LOOKING FOR A LEGEND

FILM FLORIDA LEGENDS AWARD
-Winner feted in June at Legend Awards Party in Jacksonville-
JACKSONVILLE (January 2010) - Film Florida is currently seeking nominees for its Legends Award. The award - launched in 2006 - honors Sunshine State pioneers in the film, television and production industry.
2010 marks the five-year milestone for the award. The Creature from the Black Lagoon (Ricou Browning Sr.) was the inaugural Legend in 2006, and since then a dozen others have been awarded the honor, including the first female Legend, Michelle Marx.
What is a Film Florida Legend? All have a significant impact on the development and ongoing growth of the film and entertainment industry and all were mentors to the thousands of individuals that are following in their footsteps.
Nominees for the Film Florida Legends Award are open to those who have made a significant impact on film in Florida - whether behind the scenes or in front of the camera.
"When I'm asked who makes a great Legends nominee, I answer that the ideal Legend is someone who has worked tirelessly, who has invested in the Florida infrastructure, who has taught and shared their skills with others, who has worked behind the scenes and may not always be recognized for their achievements," said Richard Seres, founder of the Legend Awards and chair of the Legends Committee.
Nominations are now being accepted via email at legends@filmflorida.org through February 15, 2010. To nominate, please email candidate's name, contact info, brief bio and include a few reasons about why the individual should be considered.
"As the Film Florida Legends award has evolved, we've focused on individuals who have truly contributed to the growth of the production industry in Florida, and last year we received triple the number nominations from the previous year. We expect this year will be no different," said Graham Winick, President of Film Florida.
