FLORIDA’S LARGEST STUDENT FILM COMPETITION OFFERS $15,000 IN CASH AWARDS AND A MOVIE PREMIERE

Palm Beach International Film Festival (PBIFF), in collaboration with the Palm Beach County Film & Television Commission, is pleased to announce the official Call for Entries for the 2010 Student Showcase of Films (SSOF). Film students enrolled in Florida high schools and colleges are encouraged to submit their entries no later than Wednesday, January 20, 2010. Celebrating 15 years, the highly acclaimed festival is the largest statewide film competition and awards ceremony for Florida student filmmakers. The juried competition recognizes outstanding high school and college students by presenting over $15,000 in scholarships and awards in 6 film categories: Feature/Shorts, Documentary, Animation, Commercial/PSA, Music Video, and Audience Award, plus a screenwriting and poster competition. Honoring the legacy of Burt Reynolds, the festival also awards annual scholarships bearing his name. 
 
Each year, organizers produce a sizzling live awards show for more than 800 attendees from around the state. Guests have included such notables as Steven Bauer, Amanda Bynes, Vincent Cecere, Clint Howard, Jonathan Krane, Louis Lombardi, Vincent Pastore, Burt Reynolds, Al Sapienza, Tico Torres and Nick Zano.
 The 15th Annual Student Showcase of Films awards ceremony will be held o   n April 23, 2010, in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Winning student films will also be screened in their entirety at the students’ own premiere during the film festival.

Jackson, Cyd Charisse, Richard Zanuck, William Friedkin, Brett Ratner, Jacqueline Bisset, Michael Clarke Duncan and Rod Steiger.
