Film Florida’s Third Annual Legend Awards celebrated this year’s recipients: Ralph Clemente, Program Chair, Valencia Community College; Digger Wilson, Eddie and Danny Harvey, Last Stage Out of Town; Brad Fuller, President, Florida Film & Tape and Mike Fuller, President, Mike Fuller Group. The awards presentation and party attracted nearly 250 to the Enzian Theater in Orlando.

About 200 film and television industry professionals enjoyed gaming at the Grand Bohemian Hotel for the cause at the first annual Khaki and White Casino Night to benefit the Film Florida Sara Fuller Student Scholarship Fund.

Film Florida members Filmiami, made up of the Miami-Dade County Office of Film and Entertainment, the City of Miami Office of Film, Arts and Entertainment and the City of Miami BeachOffice of Film and Event Production Management, along with the Greater Miami Convention and Visitor Bureau, welcomed the top decisionmakers in advertising and commercial production at the Opening Reception of the 2008 Clio Awards at the rooftop of the Gansevoort South in Miami Beach.

Film Florida hosted the filmmaker reception at the Sarasota Film Festival. The champagne reception -- held at the stunning Modern Times Gallery -- drew about 150 guests, mostly visiting filmmakers, press, industry and local movers and shakers.

Film Florida walked the halls, participated in committee meetings regarding funding the Don Davis Film Incentive and presented information about Florida film history and the success of the film incentive to date.
The Film Florida display in the Capitol rotunda featured film equipment provided by Florida State University and demos of two of Electronic Arts' most successful games. Legislators and visitors were also invited to be the celebs at our step and repeat display.

Film Florida, in conjunction with the Florida Film and Entertainment Advisory Council and the Governor's Office of Film and Entertainment, held the third annual Governor's Mansion reception to raise awareness in the Florida legislature of the importance of the film, digital media and entertainment industries in Florida. Governor Charlie Crist and Lt. Governor Jeff Kottcamp attended with several members of the legislature. Notable guests included actress Maria Conchita Alonso and retired Tampa Bay Buccaneer Mike Alstott.
Film Florida utilized the occasion to bestow two honors for contributions to filmmaking in Florida:

Film Florida returned to Austin, TX for SXSW's Film and Interactive Festival, holding the annual "Florida Fish Fry" at The Wave, featuring a taste of the SE at SXSW.

In December, Film Florida’s neighbor was the site for the star-studded The Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF). The young festival (2007 marked its third year) took place December 6- 13, and because of the enormous growth the festival was extended to a full seven days.
This year’s festival showcased 83 films from 26 different countries, including 54 features of which several were world or international premieres and nearly all Bahamian premieres.
Bahamas Film Commissioner and Film Florida’s Craig Woods was on hand for the festivities, as was Film Florida’s Grace Hart and Nassau Film Commissioner Angela Archer.

Film Florida members gathered in Ft. Lauderdale in late November for the quarterly meeting held at Hyatt Regency Bonaventure in Weston. The meeting was hosted by Elizabeth Wentworth and the Broward Alliance. Members focused on the upcoming Rally in Tally, among other issues impacting Florida’s film industry.
Members also had the chance to attend the AICP Show in Ft. Lauderdale.
