Member Committees
In addition to our Executive and Full Boards, Film Florida has established committees to help achieve the goals set by the organization. Members volunteer for the committee of their choice, providing their expertise and talents to issues at hand. For more information on Film Florida's various committees, and to express your interest to serve, please contact each chair below:
Legislative Committee
legislative@filmflorida.org
Film Florida's Legislative Committee is very active, and works with legislators and government to help develop, sustain and promote incentives that help grow the state's film and digital media industry. The Committee also crafts the outline for Film Florida's annual "Rally in Tally" activity, coordinating the massive "walk the halls" effort, spearheading the creation of communication tools including one sheets, letters, speaking points and more for Film Florida and its partner organizations. The Legislative Committee meets at Film Florida quarterly meetings, conducts frequent conference calls and communication via e-mail.
The 2012 legislative session begins on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 and runs through Friday, March 9, 2012.
We discussed continuing the calls on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, and now we will also have calls on the fourth Wednesday of each month (through the end of session) - all calls are scheduled for 10:00am - dates are as follows:

Marketing Committee
marketing@filmflorida.org
The perfect candidate to serve on Film Florida's marketing committee is someone who is versed in social media, loves to get the word out, and is passionate about making sure the film and digital media community knows what Film Florida is all about and why membership is so valuable. The marketing committee meets at every quarterly meeting, and committee members are assigned projects to work on between meetings.
Tradeshow Committee
tradeshows@filmflorida.org
Film Florida's trade show committee is responsible for researching Film Florida's marketing outreach and presence at local, statewide and international film festivals and events. The Trade Show Committee creates an annual calendar of suggested events, researches sponsorship opportunities for Film Florida, costs for members to share booth space, event sponsorship, hotel rates and more. Trade show members are assigned specific shows as "coordinators". The trade show committee meets at quarterly meetings, usually as part of Film Commission Council.
Legends Committee
legends@filmflorida.org
Film Florida launched the annual awards event known as Film Florida Legends Awards in 2005, and it continues to be our signature annual event. The Legends Committee is responsible for compiling list of nominees, narrowing down the list and ultimately voting on and deciding Legends recipients. The Legends committee works in tandem with the Legends Host City committee to provide advice, guidance and sponsorship development for event once Legends are named. The Legends Committee is also responsible for communication with Legends from congratulations letter to on-site coordination at annual event. The Legends committee meets primarily via conference call between January and July, and on-site during quarterly meetings as needed.
Don Davis Finishing Fund Committee
finishingfund@filmflorida.org
The Don Davis Film Finishing Fund annually provides cash and in-kind production services to deserving filmmakers needing help to complete their film projects. The projects submitted have a broad range of subject matter and are judged by a committee of top industry professionals. As its name implies, the goal of the fund is to provide financial and/or in-kind support to filmmakers in order to finish their films. This is done through an annual judging processing, usually completed in May of each year. Committee members work together to screen submissions, and meet via phone, email and person to discuss merits of each project.
Sara Fuller Student Scholarship Fund Committee
scholarship@filmflorida.org
Film Florida provides three Sara Fuller Student Scholarships annually in recognition of organizations that support Film Education, primarily Florida film festivals. The program's namesake, Sara Fuller, was a true pioneer in Florida's Production Industry, and this scholarship honors her memory by supporting future filmmakers and encouraging excellence in the field of motion picture education. The Sara Fuller Scholarship Fund Committee selects the festivals that will receive scholarships, and assists the Chair in appearing at festivals to present scholarship as necessary. This committee primarily meets via phone and email, or during brief meetings at quarterly meetings.
Hurricane Committee
hurricane@filmflorida.org
The purpose of the Hurricane Committee is to create a central point of communication about Florida's "tropical season" or filming during summers in Florida – primarily as it pertains to insurance and crisis communication. The committee exists to help answer questions for productions, and to communicate to members. The Hurricane Committee also works to revise "hurricane communications plan" as needed. This committee is ideally suited for members who work with film crews during tropical season. This committee meets on an "as needed" basis.
